What is a True "One-Pot" Meal?

A true "one-pot" meal contains protein, starch and vegetables all in the same pot. Any recipe that directs the cook to, "Prepare pasta separately." or "Serve with bread." is not a true "one-pot" meal. All Glorious One-Pot Meal recipes are true "one-pot" meals. Make no mistake: Glorious One-Pot Meals are NOT slow-cooker roasts, crock-pot stews, casseroles or skillet meals.

What Do You Use to Cook Glorious One-Pot Meals?

Each recipe bakes in a 2-quart cast iron Dutch oven and feeds 2 adults; however, increasing the recipe is easy if you remember the one-quart-per-person rule of Dutch ovens used for Glorious Pot Meals. To feed four, use at least a 4-quart Dutch oven and double the recipe. be aware that larger meals may increase the baking time.

Your Dutch oven need not be enameled cast iron, but it does make for easier clean up, storage and lighter weight when the pot is full of food.

How Are the Recipes Categorized?

Obviously, traditional recipe categories such as Appetizer, Entrée, and Side Dish don't apply to Glorious One-Pot Meals. Neither do categories such as Fish, Poultry, and Meat, since the recipes are flexible enough to accept the type of protein you prefer without problem. Even tofu and other meat alternatives work perfectly in any Glorious One-Pot Meal recipe.

Glorious One-Pot Meals use mood-based categories, as in when you ask yourself the age-old question of: What do I feel like eating? These categories are:

  • Hale & Hearty: Robust, filling dishes sure to satisfy even the hungriest appetite.
  • Hot & Spicy: Exciting flavors from nations near and far give meals that extra zing.
  • Light & Flavorful: Clean, clear tastes that make the ingredients dance with flavor.
